Every year, over 50,000 visas are issued to people from countries with low immigration rates to the United States. The DV Program is also known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/us-gc.net\/en\/american-lottery-green-card\/\">Green Card Lottery<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-comment-fonctionne-t-il\">How does it work?<\/h2>\n\n<p>Participation in the Diversity Visa Program is subject to a random selection process. Applicants must submit an <a href=\"https:\/\/us-gc.net\/en\/lottery-form-green-card\/\">online application<\/a> by the end of October each year. Eligibility criteria include possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent, or two years&#8217; professional experience in a field requiring at least two years&#8217; training or experience within the last five years.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-qui-peut-en-beneficier\">Who can benefit?<\/h2>\n\n<p>Nationals of countries with low immigration rates to the United States are eligible. Each year, the U.S. State Department publishes a list of <a href=\"https:\/\/us-gc.net\/en\/non-participating-country-lottery-green-card\/\">countries whose nationals may not participate<\/a>. People from countries with a high rate of immigration to the United States are excluded. Registration is made via an <a href=\"https:\/\/us-gc.net\/en\/lottery-form-green-card\/\">online form<\/a> in the last quarter of each year. The <a href=\"https:\/\/us-gc.net\/en\/lottery-green-card-results\/\">lottery results<\/a> are published 6 months later. Winners are selected at random from all eligible entrants.
